Biography

Jorge F. Figueroa, Ph.D., is the Associate Dean of Research, Inclusion, and Innovation for the College of Professional Education at Texas Woman's University. He is an Associate Professor of Bilingual and ESL Education in the Department of Teacher Education and Affiliate Faculty to the Department of Literacy and Learning. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, he had trained pre-service and in-service teachers in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Chile, Spain, and the United States. His research area focuses on the intersection between emergent technologies,second language acquisition, and cultures, with particular emphasis on augmented and virtual reality. His research has appeared in Educación XX1, INNOEDUCA, Expert Systems, Digital Education Review, European Researcher, International Journal of Environmental and Science Education, among others. He is a Senior Fellow of the New Leadership Academy and an active member of the Cátedra ESCALAE at Universidad de Málaga in Spain. Dr. Figueroa directs COPE's International Education Partnerships and the COPE Emerging Leaders Program, and co-directs the Masters program in Multilingual and Multicultural Studies. He is the faculty advisor of the TWU Bilingual and ESL Education Student Organization (BESO).
