Biography

Elizabeth Mathews McCarroll is a Certified Child Life Specialist and a professor of child development. Her research interests include social and emotional development and peer relationships in young children. She is also interested in the impact of hospitalization and chronic illness on development, peer relationships, and parenting. Dr. McCarroll currently serves as the Child Life Program coordinator, working with both undergraduate and graduate students as they pursue child life certification for their career. Her teaching interests include courses in child life, play, development, and the psychosocial impact of health. She is involved with the Texas Association of Child Life Professionals and the Association of Child Life Professionals.
