Texas Woman's University, Dallas, TX Campus Nursing Associate Professor Nola Schrum is a lifelong clinical nurse. She spent 43 years working for Baylor Health as a Critical Care Nurse. She worked simultaneously as a Family Nurse Practitioner for 2 years in Internal Medicine in Dallas. In 2002, she began her teaching career which she continues currently here at TWU. Planning and teaching a nursing curriculum led her to develop an experiential learning experience for students who wished to participate in her personal non-profit Christian based mission which is not affiliated with TWU. Annually Ms. Schrum took nursing students from various colleges on overseas medical and dental missions in underserved communities in Africa primarily but also in the Caribbean and Peru. She saw the need for expanding the education of students and nurses on a global health level. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society of Nursing. She has presented at both local and national conferences.
