Biography

Most of my research, teaching, and service centers on various forms of gender-based violence. I am currently working on a project that addresses the problem of campus sexual assault. I teach a class periodically that focuses on Family Violence Across the Lifespan. I am currently on the Nursing Facility Administrator Advisory Board for the State of Texas. Part of that work is to work towards the goal of keeping Texas nursing homes free of abuse and neglect. As the Vice Provost for Research, it is my goal to assist faculty and students in conducting relevant and high quality research. Toward that end, our office has created two centers: The Center for Research Design and Analysis and the Center for Student Research.

Current Projects

I am currently working on a project funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services to address the serious and pervasive problem of sexual assault on college and university campuses in Texas. We are working with ten universities in Texas. We are helping each university refine their policy, strengthen their training, and form interdisciplinary teams to respond to sexual assault. All of our work is directed at creating a campus environment that effectively prevents sexual assaults and provides a comprehensive and effective response when sexual assault does occur.
