Ann Medley, PT, PhD is Professor and Director of the School of Physical Therapy at Texas Woman's University. Her research interests include functional assessments for older individuals and individuals following stroke. She has a specific interest in the development of valid outcomes for higher and lower functioning individuals. Most recently, her work has focused on validating the Sitting Balance Scale. Dr. Medley and Dr. Mary Thompson developed this scale to assess sitting balance ability in frail older adults. Dr. Medley currently serves as secretary of the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Physical Therapy Foundation.
