Biography

Derek C Miketinas, PhD, RD is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Texas Woman's University Institute of Health Sciences in Houston, Texas. Dr. Miketinas received his PhD from Louisiana State University where his dissertation studies focused on nutrition interventions to improve dietary intake and behaviors as well as developing questionnaires to assess these interventions. His current research involves analyzing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data to assess dietary intake and identify predictors of health and disease in the United States population. In addition, Dr. Miketinas is working to assess dietary intake, nutritional needs, and body composition in patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma.
