Tamby Allman is an associate professor and a graduate advisor for the Education of the Deaf Program. She spent her career teaching students of all ages as a teacher of the deaf and literacy coordinator for a large deaf education program in Chicago. She earned her doctorate in reading and language at National-Louis University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy, assessment and strategies for supporting language development and signed English systems. Her research includes strategies teachers use to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in general education classrooms, assessment in the 21st century, and online literacy learning. She works as a consultant and supports teachers in several regional programs.
