With elections coming up and the next legislative session around the corner, it's time to think about how to advocate for the issues important to you! You have a story. You have a passion. Come learn how to take those strengths and make them into a message.
Aurora Harris will be leading this hands-on workshop on crafting a message for policymakers. Ms. Harris is the Southern Regional Director for Young Invincibles. Based in Houston, Texas she leads the strategic direction, programming, and policy priorities on health care, higher education, workforce/finances, and civic engagement for the region. She is an influential leader with a wealth of experience in community outreach and project management.
Prior to working at Young Invincibles, Ms. Harris served as Executive Director of the Lesbian Health Initiative (LHI). During her tenure, she formalized collaborative partnerships and increased the diversity of board leadership, volunteers, and clients served while simultaneously solidifying LHI’s sustainability for years to come. Ms. Harris also served as Community Outreach Manager for the Preservation Society of Charleston, where she convened the City’s first coalition of African American preservationist and established the City of Charleston’s Modern Civil Rights Era Historic Marker Trail. She is part of New Leaders Council Class of 2017 and she currently sits on the City of Houston’s first ever Mayoral LGBTQ Advisory board.
Virtual: This workshop will be available in person and via Zoom, with activities facilitated on both formats. When you register, we'll ask for your preferred type of attendance. Attendees will receive the Zoom link two weeks before the event.
