Entrepreneurship 101

In this workshop, participants will gain a basic understanding of entrepreneurship and what it means to be an entrepreneur, develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and how to start taking steps to start their business.

Participants will learn:

  • What it means to be an entrepreneur.
  • The difference between a small business owner and an entrepreneur
  • Characteristics of entrepreneurs
  • Important considerations for entrepreneurs

Dr. Dewaynna Horn, Ph, D. serves as Associate Dean/Associate Professor of Management at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) in the College of Business where she teaches graduate management courses. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from Jackson State University, an MBA from Millsaps College, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Belhaven University. She was previously on faculty in the College of Business at Prairie View A&M University. She worked in management roles in the banking/financial services industry for 14 years. Her research interests include organizational citizenship behavior, leadership, teams, positive job attitudes, wellbeing, and e-commerce success. Her research appears in several academic journals and she has presented her work at national and international conferences.

To bridge the gap between theory and practice and to stay current in the industry, Dr. Horn coaches women leaders and business owners on the same topics of her research and collaborates with several women-focused business organizations in Houston.
